Our set of values

In times of constant change, we are constantly faced with new, sometimes major challenges. We can effectively meet them by equipping ourselves with the skills and competencies necessary to constructively deal with new things and find creative solutions that ultimately lead to new and relevant developments.

Steinbeis University is based on values that our namesake, Ferdinand von Steinbeis, exemplified: inspiration, innovation and action. Ferdinand von Steinbeis is considered the father of dual education; he attached great importance to the achievements of science for industrial progress and social life. As head of the central office for trade and commerce, he therefore developed concepts as early as the mid-19th century for the practice-oriented technology transfer that was implemented long after his time.

In a bright, loft-like room, five young adults of different origins are standing around a table with various work materials on it. These include post-it notes, notebooks, markers, tablets, pens and printouts with diagrams on them. The woman on the left is holding a sheet of paper in her hands and showing it to the other people. Everyone is laughing heartily at what she is showing. Some of the people are leaning on the table.

The culture of transfer

At Steinbeis University, we live the basic idea of Ferdinand von Steinbeis, to put researched and learned knowledge into practice. With the development of well-founded competencies among our students, we want to make a contribution to companies and society and promote the transfer of scientific theory into relevant practice. We attach great importance to a lively intellectual and scientific exchange – a transfer of ideas between lecturers, companies and students as well as with other universities and research institutions.

This exchange not only promotes interpersonal relationships, but also excellence. Ideas grow in the transfer of ideas, which become impulses for important innovations. And connections are created that often last a lifetime, a strong network of skills. So it is no wonder that our alumni remain connected even after many years – with each other and with their university.

Knowledge and skills for sustainable solutions

Steinbeis University offers holistic education beyond short-term employability optimization. Our educational ideal is that of a personality that develops and educates itself throughout its life, constantly looking beyond its own horizons – both personal and cultural.

The focus of our commitment is therefore the ideal of a creative personality. We want to offer our students and corporate partners more than academic awards. Our goal is also to pave the way for economic and social impact: for sustainable, future-proof solutions.
